NAS Board Committee Appointment – Trustee and Chair of the Board
The National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities is seeking expressions of interest from dynamic and experienced candidates to join its Board in the role of Chairperson. This voluntary role offers the unique opportunity to lead the Board and contribute to the growth and development of the organisation and guide the implementation of the strategic objectives for both the National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities and the Patient Advocacy Service. Candidates wishing to apply must demonstrate the qualities, skills and experience to meet the criteria as set out in the Chair Candidate Pack.
The National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities is a registered charity, funded by the Citizens Information Board, which provides independent advocacy to adults with disabilities, especially those isolated within the community. The National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities also provides the Patient Advocacy Service which is funded by the Department of Health and provides independent advocacy to those wishing to make a complaint about care received in a Public Acute Hospital, Nursing Home and in the aftermath of a Patient Safety Incident.
Terms of Appointment
- The Chair of the Board is appointed for a 5-year term which is expected to commence in January 2027.
- The role is unpaid/voluntary, but reasonable expenses incurred whilst fulfilling the duties of the role will be reimbursed in line with the Department of Finance approved rates.
- The Board currently meets 6 times a year with one of these meetings being in person. The Chair of the Board will be expected to provide line management to the National Managers and support them in their role throughout the term of office.
